The art of a quieter room
Start with the way you want your room to feel. Move one unnecessary piece out, then give your favorite chair a little more breathing room. Choose two or three materials that feel good together: warm wood, soft cotton, and a ceramic surface. Repeat them gently, rather than matching every object. Finally, watch the natural light throughout the day. Place a reading chair where the afternoon light falls, and use a low lamp to soften the room after sunset.
